First time I have ever heard of enforcement of failing to stop at a pedestrian crossing.

If the policeman was going to an emergency with lights and sirens, you could understand. In that case the doctor would have heard and seen and not crossed the road. But this is just bizarre and a clear breach that has ended in the death of a citizen. Doubtless it will be prosecuted fully. There's certainly enough video evidence....everyone has a phone. But I fully agree that this footage should be provided to police to aid the prosecution, not put online to gain notoriety. It would understandably be if distress to the family.

Some Thai media also write that he didn't see her because he was looking at his phone and after he did a run off but later turned himself in. Wow one of Thailand's finest don't even not know the rules of the road. Wait a minute are the any rules at all?

My son told me it was stated assumed to be a confiscated modified bike and not his. No plates and no mirrors. Now if this is true or not - not sure but the bike was not street legal for sure and he was also reported that he ran away from the scene making it a hit and run. This is yesterday's news I saw on the news.  One beautiful young talanted girls life wasted.

Yeah and visited the family to try and get off no doubt, should be charged to the fullest and made an example of, being a policeman he should know better but they never do, they all think they are above the law.

So, avoiding jail-time by being a monk. How does that help with the loss of the victims family? Although, driving in Bangkok is very dangerous because there are people that do not respect traffic laws, but every culprits should be treated the same. Can’t imagine if the driver’s not a police, he/her must have been put to jail immediately, but yeah privileges.

Plenty of cctv video clearly showing the speed he achieved after turning left on to the avenue and a clear view of the incident, also footage from the dash cam in the minivan showing the van’s speed and how he accelerated past it.

Hopefully won’t use the same “ expert “ who “ calculated “ the speed in the Red Bull case.

Sad story but sometimes these cases do see small improvements in pedestrian safety.

This is a global issue and even in the city I live in ( e.g. Blackpool @Faraday ;-)) there is a high pedestrian fatality rate.

I hope to see more improvements in road safety.

Dr Waraluck was an eye specialist, that's most likely the reason for the copper being charged. Doubt he'll do any time in the big house though.

Didn't know you were, or are, from Blackpool, Wince 😉

I imagined the Gurnos Estate in Merthyr Tydfil was more your style...🤣

Some sort of irony hitting an eye specialist. Did the copper claim he didn't see him I wonder?

Pedestrian fatalities get soft prosecution even here in "Blackpool"*( *or equivalent city, maybe not in UK).

More than likely reassigned and the story will fade from the obedient media quickly.

Since when has causing distress to a family in Thailand been an issue?

Ratchadapisek, especially after 9-10 pm, often turns into bike racing, especially for those big bikes. Something needs to be done about them.
