Japan has announced new restrictions for travellers from Thailand entering the country, who must now undergo a 13-day quarantine on arrival. The new restriction will go into effect tomorrow and will affect travellers coming from Thailand and 4 other countries. The new restrictions follow a farther-reaching announcement on January 15 easing restrictions for the rest of the world, replacing the mandatory 14-day quarantine previously required with a shortened 10-day quarantine. The entry rules of Thailand are just one side of the coin.

If travellers cannot return home without quarantine, they for sure wont visit Thailand, even if the country is fully open .

So, forget Asian visitors and focus on Falangs and Russians. Their countries have much more relaxed return rules.

Great point. This punishes Japanese tourists as much as or more than Thais.

Why focus on any group?

Make the process easy - a one stop flat rate all prices included process, make it transparent - make it very very clear what happens if tourists test positive, and make sure there are no surprises

Thailand's friendliness, natural beauty, relaxing beaches and attractions will take care of the rest and tourism will recover.
