A group of four men are facing charges for allegedly hunting and killing two endangered Bengal tigers at a national park in Kanchanaburi, a western province bordering Myanmar. Thai park rangers got a report over the weekend that hunters were killing wild animals at Thong Pha Phum National Park near the border. If the details regarding the loss of livestock pans out, I'm thinking those rather valuable pelts would have been turned over to the "friends working as Civil Defense Volunteers" as rental for the guns.

Still, abhorrent actions, absolutely no justification possible for the killings.

Next time bengal tigers kill cattle, call us! We are more than happy to relocate them here to supplement the breeding program. I'm sure Taronga or any number of other zoos involved in the endangered species breeding program would be happy to remove the problem. Just don't kill the tiger for trying to find food.
