Tourism operators are calling on the Thai government to delay the introduction of a 300-baht tourism fee to give the sector time to recover. The fee is due to take effect from April, with the Bangkok Post reporting that it will apply to foreigners arriving in the kingdom by land, sea, and air. Marisa Sukosol Nunbhakdi from the Thai Hotels Association says that while the fee is a relatively small amount, it still risks putting foreigners off, particularly those who travel in and out of the country frequently. She adds that while the concept of the fund is a good […]

No one is too cheap not to pay us $10 entry. I feel it should  be more. If a bum objects to this send him elsewhere.

300 baht will not kill the cat. Big deal and it covers accidents and hospital stays if I am correct.

But here is the real reason these idiots probably have in the back of their heads: Article quote- Sisdivachr Cheewarattanaporn from the Association of Thai Travel Agents agrees, saying the fee should be postponed until tourism is back at pre-pandemic levels and Chinese visitors have returned.

Does this mean they think the budget group tour cheapo Chinese will be upset that they have to part with a mere 300 baht 57 - 58 Yuan?

Thailand should forget about the Chinese and concentrate on all races and countries. I would gladly pay 600 baht more to not see the huge influx of Chinese and their groups everywhere.

Honestly - its crazy to say this but I talked to many Thais in Chiang Mai/Chiang Rai area and they don't miss the Chinese. Surprising since so much money, but the amount of rudeness and hostility that has been displayed turned them off entirely.

You   could add some other groups of undesirables, such as sexpat and begpackers.

Not crazy in the least. I also hear the same sentiment and so it is not even in the slightlest primarily only me and my family's viewpoint and feelings on the matter. A well rounded mix of all the races at certain times of the year as countries have different times to travel is how it should be, adn I really don't think too many of any single race in groups is a good thing. For CM right now there seems to be a good mix of who stays here, and the Chinese are included in that mix.

Worst thing you ever want to do is go to a buffet that has groups of Chinese at it. Detracts from the experience and also makes certain items literally a power push and grab when they get released. Another thing is it is highly noticeable and dangerous with the Chinese on motorcylces here. You see the style of riding and don't even haver to guess what nationality. As for the money, did they really bring in and spread the money love everywhere or was it more controlled or contained?

And then they get grinded up into paste and made into chips. But quite good tasting as that matters. They didn’t go to waste.

Whatever your opinion on sexpats and backpackers

I guarantee you the vast majority of Thais would much rather deal with them than the Chinese

It's not about the wallet. And tourists couldn't care less. Who are likely to be upset are people who work, live and have a family here, speaking Thai and pay taxes and still have to pay some fee which ahould only be for tourists.

It 100% about the money. It's always about the money.....

No one gives a shit on principal about 300 baht on a 30k ticket

And again, you are a tourist

You aren't a permanent immigrant

You are in terns of immigration unless you have permanent residence or citizenship

I mean that is just a fact that expats constantly ignore

They willingly sign on to be temporary residents, then complain when they are treated as such

About the same, but the Chinese spend more.

I wonder if it will be subject to Non O or OA long term. Not the 3 month entry

How often do these people travel in  and out of Thailand? It's only upon  entering.  Perhaps people living along the border would be affected if the frequently shop in the other country to save on Vat but they haven't been able to do this the past 2 years.

It's an entry tax and only applies when you arrive.
