  1. I went through the University 'system' in the US with a full-ride scholarship that I applied for myself, it was a great experience that has allotted me countless opportunities in my professional career. There are so many grants and scholarships available that if you are a good student with extracurriculars, you should have no issues having it mostly paid for. Look, I realize many here are disillusioned with their Western home countries (for many very valid reasons) and that is why they left to Thailand. However, I would argue that the best thing that you can do for your kids is to provide them with more options in a world that is very quickly changing. Having the ability to come-and-go from the US and other countries that recognize the US passport is very powerful. Otherwise, the child in question would be bound to a lifetime of Visa applications as the Thai passport is only good around the ASEAN-bloc countries. Let them choose, give them both options. They can always renounce it later if they feel the same way.
  2. Try telling your kid that you had the option to send them abroad to get a halfway decent education and to be able to make it in the world professionally, but you decided it wasn't in their best interests.
  3. Well, as a surprise to absolutely no one, this "high-season" is also officially kaput.
  4. Expats in Thailand by far and large sure act like a bunch of alcoholics... why is beer so important that you need it served with every meal.
  5. No reason to come back even if it does open November 1st. You would be smart to watch by the sidelines for a month until at least December 1st and then make a judgment call if its still worth it.
  6. Chinese, Indians, Russians... sounds like Pattaya is going to flourish. What a world class destination.
  7. Been checking ANA - Japan, EVA - Taiwan, most likely booking will end up being SIN - Singapore. It seems like they will open up to the world before most others given their stance on endemic covid.
  8. I feel bad for NZ / Australia, absolute madness down under.
  9. Not even very attractive. Flat, no body shape, short hair, yawn... who pays for this crap.
  10. When we stayed, there were a few nice Airbnb condos within walking distance. Jim's Lodge is the best bet otherwise.
  11. While I don't particularly care for the Philippines itself, the nurses are world class as opposed to Thai nurses. Good lord, angry lot.
  12. Exactly, you will be crying and screaming (discrimination! racism! sexism!) while being dragged up the airport terminal back to a return flight home, and no one will care one bit.

That's the one he is talking about... I doubt its open.
  14. Farangs cleaning up your country for you through volunteer efforts... something is wrong with this picture.
  15. Tim is the best, Jet is pretty good too. Jay is okay. Mike and Bill aren't that great.
  16. Can get most of these in the US imported from the South America region. Nothing specific to Thailand.
  17. I can see I'm barking up the wrong tree. I'll see myself out. Enjoy your Sizzlin'.
  18. There's a reason I never went in to eat. It's in like every mall everywhere, but it looks like dog food.
  19. This program proved itself to be utterly useless last year, when even 'Elite' Visa holders couldn't make it into Thailand. Anyone who pre-pays for a Visa in a country where the rules change daily has more money than sense as far as I'm concerned.
  20. Those photos look rather disgusting. I've never eaten Sizzler, but it has always come across as overpriced and low quality.
