  1. I don't know what's more shocking that they assaulted The Policeman or that one off them was actually wearing a helmet whilst riding a rented bike.

  4. Why? I would avoid the place like avoiding a terrible plague. Hunker down at home for Songkran is my advice

  5. I was taught, and have always believed that if you rear-end someone, you are at fault. Period. Granted his post-contact behavior wasn't exemplary but I feel the Thai woman probably bears nearly all of the responsibility for what eventually transpired.

  7. Just today on Thaiger I've seen America blamed for: ISIS, AL-Qaeda, 9/11, Russia's invasion of Ukraine, and now prostitution in Thailand. It's incredible what a simplified view of the world one can have, especially if one has a predisposition to dislike some people and also disdains nuance, facts, etc. But I guess we're all guilty of some version of that.

  9. Hmmm, a part of me thinks this event from January, has been cherry-picked to feed the current social media trend on foreigners acting badly in Thailand. Media sometimes swarms on a trend to keep the party going, until a more salacious, sexy story comes along. Again, reminds me of when a shark bites a swimmer at a beach and next thing you know, media goes on a bender turning it into THE SUMMER OF DEATH!!!!!

  10. This Russian woman is clearly a very nasty piece of work, what decent person attacks an 8 months pregnant lady for any reason? I sincerely hope she gets a bit of jail time before being deported!

  11. Doesn't that reflect a major problem? That a girl can't be left at home alone? It's 100% true My wife said she used to go to her Mom's work after school "and sleep in a box like a puppy" She said "because my Mom think I am too pretty to be alone" She was under 10yrs old.... I've seen incidents in the village where they just make sure a certain boy isn't allowed near young girls No punishment No law enforcement intervention

  12. Deportation and blacklisting should happen after they have been tried and served their sentences. Thailand does not need tourists like this but simply kicking them out of the country and telling them they can't come back does not deter this kind of crime.

  13. IMO, Thai cops are trigger happy and quick to pull their guns. These 2 may have been in fear of their lives and the recorded actions look more like they were in over their heads and were keeping the cop from shooting them. No argument that they were in the wrong for speeding and alleged attempted bribery. For that alone they should be sanctioned, but keep in mind Thai cop behavior. There is always a shoot out at the Ok Corral somewhere in Thailand because this place has more guns than much of the western world (excluding the USA) and it has gun violence to show for that.

  16. Dr don't accept the apology. Let this be a lesson to all those who think they are big due to connections and money. Pull him to court and sue him maximum till his underpants and make sure that Thailand kicks out such people from the land of Thousand Smiles. These foreigners think that they are great and taking advantage of the humbleness of Thai people. Just teach him a lesson that his mother failed to do when he was young.

  17. Not penny pinching and not poor engineering. As the engineering analysts have pointed out, a large vessel as large as the Empire State building crashed into the bridge. When the bridge was built it was in an era of small, slower vessels. There were no super cargo vessels. The common barriers found throughout the world cannot stop a large cargo ship. The vessel had deployed its anchors to slow it down. The bridge was in good shape and bridges are not built to sustain a major impact. Engineers have stated that the common "dolphins" seen around some large bridges would have failed under this type of impact. It was an unfortunate accident. Building super reinforced dolphins are not fiscally viable and would cost $billions. It is not just this bridge, but many critical bridges around the world are just as vulnerable. The economic loss this tragedy will create will be in the. hundreds of millions Of $. Baltimore Port is out of business once it clears what it has in Port and on the stranded vessels. Much of the east coast auto shipments came in from this port and they will be diverted elsewhere. It will be a boon to the railways which will pick up the internal shipping from other ports which are at capacity. 15,000 workers are employed at the port. Many will be jobless. There are several ships stuck in Port and this will cost the shipping companies.

  18. Clearly these 'you tubers' are too thick to do even basic research on 'scams' in countries before they travel to them. The tuk tuk/tailor shop scam has been running for decades and anyone who even does basic research before travelling would know of it.

  20. I think the point being missed, by a wide margin, here is that while American servicemen might have been the customers that helped create the demand for the modern industry in question, they didn't create that industry. It was created for them by the Thais themselves. Even today, go to Soi Cowboy, Nana, Patong or Pattaya and the vast majority of the businesses that cater to this industry are owned, operated and staffed by Thais and it's Thais that deposit that money in their bank accounts. Thais just took a facet of their culture that was already present and super sized it. And still do.

  21. Do I have to refute that humans have to eat to survive for it to be factual? I'm refuting that the US did not found the sex tourism industry. That is a fact. All I've been countered with thus far is Mr. Cowslip's personal opinion that the US did found the Thailand sex tourism industry, which he feels strongly about, but also feels like saying "no you're wrong" makes factual reality unfactual and therefore incorrect. Which is hilarious. One could conclude, with the factual truth that visitors to Thailand (ie - tourists) have availed themselves of the prostitutes already long established in Thailand long before Americans ever showed up (ie - sex tourism), that Americans did not, in fact, found the sex tourism industry. I have agreed already that they're arguably responsible for its growth during the Vietnam War and its current iteration is due largely to that stimulus, but the argument is that the US founded the industry, which is absolutely ridiculous and Cowslip simply insisting he's right is a hilarious display of pompous arrogance. This is great

  22. Not really compared to the 99% 20+ million tourists go to Thailand Just the tiniest % go for the sex industry

  23. That's pitiful. The Swiss guy lost everything and this miscreant is fined 500 baht and given a suspended sentence because she claimed it was due to her period. That's just embarrassing and I'm reasonably sure the pregnant Thai woman that was kicked is feeling very undervalued by her own people right now.

  24. I think, as is usual, the TAT is whistling up imaginary numbers. Considering the prevailing sentiment regarding personal economics that seems to be a constant topic of conversation in US news, I doubt that as many people as they think are going to make the trip, even for an "extended" Songkran, which never made sense to me in the first place.

  25. I'm looking forward to being in Chiang Mai for Songkran this year, fully understanding that it's insanely hot, there is a kid waiting around every corner and every bush and right out in the open with a water gun full of ice cold sack wrinkling pond water, and getting to any intended destination is near impossible. It's something completely different from anything I can experience at home, and I'm excited about it :)

  27. Indeed. My missus’ nubile nieces came to visit. I was under the strictest instruction that they were never to be left alone, even at home, and must be accompanied everywhere at all times. I asked why the distrust and, after she finished slapping me, was told me that “Thai man no good”.

  30. Really? The Huawei sanctions weren't in response to clandestine data gathering and transmission back to China? Really? It wasn't only the US that discovered this. As for microchip sanctions, I guess that industrial development should allow the stealing, copying and reproduction of proprietary designs and development, eh? I can see that you don't like the U.S. and that's perfectly fine but that doesn't mean everything they do is clandestine or wrong, fitting your preconceived notions. The U.S. wouldn't be the first nation to ban TikTok, nor a bunch of other Chinese apps. How does India fit in with this anti-U.S. view of yours?

  31. I wonder how long that will last. I foresee hordes of Thais in all walks heading off to work in Europe on a tourist visa, if what they do in Taiwan and Korea is anything to go by

  32. Normally when you rear end someone it's your fault, but in the this instance the bike has veered from a straight ahead lane and come to a full stop in front of the car, that was turning left in a clear lane. It is unreasonable to expect the car to have been able to stop. Fine and deport this wanker. Clearly there is more in the lead up to this accident. As an Aussie, I'm embarrassed by this behaviour.

  34. I've met a number of single mothers, aunts, etc. that raise the children because the father was, at heart, just a deadbeat and left. I don't know any of them that have married again because it seems Thai men aren't keen on raising and spending for children that aren't theirs. I don't know any of them that actually get child support. My wife, who had two kids from her first marriage, told the court when getting divorced that "dad" didn't need to support the kids, and as a result should stay away. I saw the guy once, on my step-daughter's 8th birthday (she's 24 now) and he wasn't welcome then by her or any of us. Never saw him again. I've supported the kids and given them tremendous advantages and opportunities they'd never have otherwise.

  35. Almost every single Thai female I have known has been abused in one way or another, a good friend of mine who had four children with this Thai guy told me that one night he held her down and poured toilet cleaner down her throat, she was hospitalized and barely survived, it seems to me that a lot, I’m sure not all, but a lot of Thai males are taught to behave like animals to women from an early age. The other thing I’ve noticed is that a lot of women are left on their own once the guy realizes he’s responsible for their children and can’t cope.

  36. It's absolutely rife in Thailand I don't know many women that haven't been abused Just yesterday my stepson's best friend I'm reticent to divulge this But my stepson hit his GF last year She was a horrible person and he came to us and admitted it, we didn't just find out about it The thing is my wife almost justfied it. Saying that she said really bad stuff about me and my wife I told my wife "I don't give a f*ck" what some 22yr old girl, or anyone, has to say about me I was in Canada and he was in Bangkok I sent him a message telling him if I were in Thailand I would kick the shit out of him. I told him if it ever happens again, he's dead to me, I will never have a relationship with him again. And I ridiculed him like I've never ridiculed anyone in my life. I didn't let it slide either A few after when I saw him in person I sat him down and had at him again..... It's despicable

  38. I see they've pulled his visa, deeming him a "threat to social peace". Phuket's immigration police has detained him and he can seek a temporary release to defend himself, on this charge, but they've got an earlier one, as well, about obstructing an ambulance. Bye, bye, "David".

  40. Tell you something; there are far too many stupid, ill informed, conspiracy theory, separate posts about COVID vaccines and it is seriously putting me off spending time on this forum. Either consolidate all these idiot posts in one posting, so that sensible people can ignore them and their posters, or start to lose those of us who are intensely bored with opening up the forum, to find just a long list of Covid related posts, all writing about the same old sxxt and nothing much else of interest. We have seen other forums go to the wall because they were highjacked by a few irrational posters banging on about the same subject for months at a time, I would not like to see this one go the same way.

  41. Nah, he's not a dodo. It's an advertising post, and possibly a scam in itself. This poster has made ONE post, and this is it. Same as the poster before him, Mr. Crytpotalk. ONE post and that was it, and it's promoting a service. It's advertising designed to skirt the forums no advertising rules.

  45. I was scrolling my instagram when I saw an advert for this f^ke investment platform called bitblender.me that promised a great return on investment after 4 weeks and since I was close to retirement I thought it would be a great decision to take not knowing these are sc^mmers that have ruined the lives of so many innocent and unsuspecting people. I fell into depression after losing $ 61 k worth of Bitcoin because I did not know where to even start as I was actually close to retirement. It was my lawyer that noticed how I was keeping to myself and then decided to pay me a visit and when I finally told him what had happened he told me to be rest assured that the bitcoin I sent were recoverable. That is when he told me of Refund Policy a team of professional hackers that does his law firm’s cyber security. At first I was hesitant to contact Refund Policy but I am glad I later did because it was like magic how they helped me recover all the $ 61 k worth of bitcoin I had sent to the sc^mmers. I thank my lawyer for telling me of Refund Policy and I will forever be grateful because if not for them I might have just taken my own life and that’s why i am going to put their contact details here incase anyone needs their services, they can help you recover whatever it is you lose to sc^mmers. Their E - mail: refundpolicy 82 at gmail.com and their WhatsApp number is + 1 (229) 231 1959. Do not hesitate to get in touch with them if you ever need their services. They can also help you investigate a cheating partner.
