  1. How about vaccinating everybody first before giving booster shots?

  2. I agree with this message in the fullest extend. I'm done with the anti-vaxxers dictating vaxxing people how to behave or that we 'should've known better'. Don't get me wrong I'll repeat this message a billion times, I've been vaccinated as a kid and back then nobody cared to ask what was in the vaccine - There wasn't a need for this much 'proof' everybody wants to see these days. FFS people just get vaccinated so the world can be 'normal' again. The fact that your clinging on-to your rights of freedom because don't want to be vaccinated. Really.... you didn't get any vaccination as a kid against chickenpox for example. I can't wait till we are in sane numbers here in Thailand and panic isn't the default standard and yes foreigners with a non-something be advised to just vaccinate now as it's available for free and you can atleast get some form of protection as stated before all the new covid infections and deaths are still the stubborn part of the world. I still suggest world leaders to decide which country in Africa they decide to evacuate and make it the land of the 'free' where all the none vaxxers can live without health care since those rights on a respiratory device should be signed off due to not wanting vaccinations.

  3. The world is definitely not doing well right now at this point, and one little spiff rocking in the wrong direction could be a nuclear mistake. China has even recently said they will and would use them. Now the question if they really would is another answer that no one knows. But what probably is a given is that if anyone does use them then there will be a heavy reaction to that. If there are aliens that are kind and gentle and care, I wish they would come in and set things in the right direction of peace and no aggression.

  4. It comes with the job! Vaccinations for aircrew is very common. They can piss and moan all they want. It isn't a debate about effectiveness, risk, chance of dying, etc. There is a virus. The virus is infectious. There are vaccines. The vaccines protect against serious illness and death. "At a minimum, aircrew members should be up-to-date with routine vaccinations. These vaccines include measles-mumps-rubella (MMR), diphtheria-tetanus-pertussis, varicella, polio, and the seasonal influenza vaccine." https://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/yellowbook/2020/travel-for-work-other-reasons/advice-for-aircrews

  5. Fair play to the Chinese leadership. They are acting in (what they perceive) as the best interests of their citizens. This is why they are trying to steal the entire South China Sea. Their huge population requires fish, and the military want lots of new island bases. There would be no gain by China firing off a few nukes, but making the threat known certainly will scare the bejeezus out of weak nations, such as Biden's America, who will stop riding the Chinese hard on HK, Taiwan and the SCS like Trump did. Trump's carrot and big stick approach brought historic peace to the MiddleEast and the Korean peninsula. Biden's carrot and a bigger carrot has led an end to ME peace, and the Korean peninsula is going badly Pete Tong. No surprise.

  6. Of course there have been incidents of blood clots (more from Covid than vaccines). Covid remains potentially far more deadly than vaccines.

  7. Won't help the vaccination campaign. Moderna is a mythical substance as far as Thailand is concerned. Stay safe everyone.

  8. Trump is no longer President. Biden is. Biden cancelled or reversed pretty much every arrangement Trump made. Throwing open Trump's secure southern border, and killing the Keystone pipeline as 2 easy examples. Biden, as the President, and winner of (cough cough) 81 million votes, is responsible for the sudden and calamitous withdrawal from Afghanistan. Blinken and Milley are clearly unqualified and out of touch with reality and so need to accept blame for their dreadful roles in this deadly fiasco. But it is 100% Biden's fault. I would accept the argument that Biden is not responsible on grounds that he is mentally incapacitated and only parroting what his handlers are telling him.

  9. Well now look at those western countries Their citizens are being priced out of the home buying market by foreigners bidding up home prices It's certainly the case in Canada, I've heard the same in Australia Not as much in the US though

  10. What about those already here? I see no reason why the 90day cannot be dropped for those who have permanent address's, especially those who have been here a number of years at the same address. Just require a change of address. Then there is all the duplicate paperwork required when renewing the visa each year. Even if you have been here 20 years you still have to submit the same old stuff. God knows where all the paper ends up.
    4 points
  11. "The visa will grant privileges like not having to notify Thai authorities every 90 days" Then why would anyone need to do 90 day reports? Just a rule made to be a pain in the *@$#'?

  12. Remember how the KLM cabin crew wasn't required to get jabbed or tested (and didn't) and how the Olympic Team arrived in Japan infected? Yes, vaccination doesn't prevent transmission completely (although more and more details are available that it does reduce the viral load). But crew should at least be tested! If you enter the plane without Covid and exit with Covid, that's not the inflight service I'm looking for!

  13. Perhaps a worked example will help you understand this and show why it looks worse for vaccinated people. Let’s take a group of 100 people aged 60-69 and 90 of them have been vaccinated and 10 haven’t (90% uptake) Then, some weeks later 10% of people in the unvaccinated group become infected. This translates to 1 person in the unvaccinated group of 10 people. In the fully vaccinated group only 3% contract the virus (due to vaccination) get the virus. That equates to 2.7 people, let’s call it 3. So it looks like you have 3 times more people getting the virus who are vaccinated than unvaccinated. These percentage can be a bugger sometimes Hope this helps clarify the misunderstanding ?

  14. Employers set the terms of employment, employees accept those terms - or not. Similar to reports of Bangkok opening up for vaccinated travelers……..those are the terms that the authorities offer. I support the right not to vaccinate, but if that comes at a price versus others, the vast majority, who are following international medical advice - so be it. Principles, especially when in the minority, carry a cost.

  15. So I should have the right to ignore speed limits while driving past a school for example. What we do has consequences on others, you don't seem to think the government should have rules and laws for the benefit of society as a whole, then what is democracy? We elect our governments to do their job so let them do it? Should I personally be allowed to rob a bank as I do not believe the law should be there? So our democratically elected government (UK) set our rules and laws for this pandemic guided by scientists and we should follow them for the benefit of all.

  16. Wonder where you disappeared to. HK is a lost cause at this point and that is such a huge blunder. Taiwan needs protection and their freedom. I already call and consider them their own country. If you ask me, no one in the US being from the Reps to the Dems have the balls to stick up and say, nope, it is high time we call the it the Republic of Taiwan country and not any part of the ROC under the CCP, let them into world affairs as their own entity and become part of the UN. I am so sick and fed up with China with such things going back to Tibet, that I if at the forced time I probably would pick up a fire arm to retard their advances where ever I am in order to make them go away. I know that is a seriously hard statement, but I fully am opposed to the CCP in everyway, and just to say our country's Reps and Dems and Elite helped make them this way. Ughh! NK is odd, and he is like the little dangerous Asian Chuckie kid who wants to be taken seriously and be included in the big boy discussions. But he is a loose firecracker now having a canon. Iran, just weird and again a loose firecracker. Afghanistan, well those sheep herders with sling shots are pretty much undefeated, and in the collective of what they believe in are another firecracker and danger to many. So let's look to the good ole US, but let's not get into and discuss or debate of what a shame of how divided it has now become. BTW, did you just read that Lake Tahoe changed the ski resort named Squaw valley because it is politically not correct as racist and sexist? I thought I heard something but am just waiting for Oreo Cookies name to be changed because it is also a racist profiling. And if that happens then crackers will have to be stricken from the dictionary and banned. Everyone is sensitive, but hey thank goodness we all just can't go to the store and buy a build your own atomic b o m b set if you know what I mean. We need to let the big idiots do that. These are my personal opinions.

  17. Seems the world is hurtling to major and numerous conflicts. Biden's America, defeated by slingshot wielding goat herders, is a laughing stock. With no deterrent or consequence for bad behavior, watch China invade Taiwan. Watch Hong Kong lose all autonomy. Watch Iran become a nuclear power and start a campaign of blackmail. Watch NK launch missiles over Japan and the Guamians again hide in nuclear shelters. This is a total and utter disaster. Such pathetic weakness and stupidity by the Biden admin that is unleashing all this mayhem is beyond the scope of most peoples understanding. But all is not lost. At least the orange man is not making mean tweets.

  18. As an investor in a tourism entertainment business I totally sympathise with him. The restrictions have put hundreds of thousands out of work and effectively destroyed many smaller establishments. And yet the police still want their "tea money" and the authorities still demand business license renewal even though there is no business. The tourism industry was built on the hard work and initiative of many small business people who are now in dire straits. In no more than 400 metres from the business I suport half the bars & restaurants have gone bust and there is no one to replace them. The Thai smile is now a row of decayed teeth. Not a pretty sight and no longer a tourist attraction.

Does the Thai Govt in anyway recognise that TAT are a huge embarrassment to the country, and that their behaviour over the last few years is in fact a major deterrent to tourism?? Don't answer that.

  24. To do what? How about ensure all US citizens were safely and calmly evacuated, along with Afghans that assisted the US, with rigorous checks which would be possible because it would not be a mad charge to the airport. How about to ensure each and every weapon, military drone, helicopter, aircraft, Hummer and computer containing US intel was either destroyed or taken abroad to safety. Just saying it's Trumps fault, or some convoluted garbage about various treaties is IMO intentionally missing the point. This was a clusterbang of epic proportions. We are already seeing the ramifications of a woke US military fleeing Afghanistan. Little Kim is firing rockets again. Wait and see what an emboldened China and Iran do. This is 100% Biden's fault, and the consequences will be disastrous for the west for many decades to come.

  25. I did not have a picture of the Philippine Pork, though it looks similar to this [file photo] when served > Philippine Pork - a tasty, mildly spiced stew For best results use lean Chinese-style spare rib or belly rashers (rind on) & cook in a Multi Cooker Preparation/cooking time about 1hr. NB: longer cooking req’d if cooked on stovetop – 2hrs or until tender. Serves 2 to 4 (also freezes well) 6 lean pork spare rib rashers cut into 50mm cubes 1 tin diced tomatoes 2 onions diced 6 garlic gloves crushed 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce 2 tbsp Ketchup or 1 of tomato paste 2 tbsp Brown sugar or Palm sugar 1 tbsp light Soy sauce* 1 tsp red chili – fresh or dried - add more to suit taste 1 tsp white ground pepper (increase pepper if reducing chili) *Add extra Soy or salt, to taste after cooking Brown the pork in cooker saute-mode or a frypan, in batches Add all ingredients to open Multi-cooker & bring up to heat Ensure enough liquid to just cover Pork (add 50/50 water & tomato sauce if more liquid required to cover) Put lid on cooker - bring up to pressure for 15 to 20 minutes Remove from heat & allow pressure to bleed-off Remove lid carefully to avoid steam burns, then select saute mode & simmer, stirring frequently, until liquid is reduced to a thick sauce – approx 20 minutes. Serve on rice or mashed potato

  26. That’s a great ploy. I’ll try that next time I fly . Not with any of the Lard Arses that squeeze down the aisle on BA or KLM mind you. I’m sure you can’t get a job on those airlines unless the width of your ass is wider than the aisle.

  28. And the data to support that ridiculous claim is where exactly? Let me quote a number that may mean something to you. Of all the people dying from Covid in the U.K. over the last 6 months, only 1% were fully vaccinated. In most cases those that died within that 1% had other serious underlying conditions. Vaccines are saving thousands of life’s each and every day. The data proves it.

  29. That is one way of viewing it. However ask yourself this. Look at the countries that do allow foreigners to own land and businesses. You know, places like the U.K., Australia, U.S, Japan, France, Germany, Canada and Italy. It’s no coincidence that these are all G7 nations. Each took the step back in their history to move forward and attract the smartest and most talented people on the planet to grow their country and develop the economy. Protectionism to the extent there is in Thailand is not to protect the rural poor from being priced out of the housing market. It’s to make sure foreigners don’t come in and take a slice of the pie from the Thai billionaires. The “Thailand is for Thais” mantra is just brainwashing so the rich can continue to use the poor as a large pool of in-house cheap Labour. Fire feed would want to introduce a decent minimum wage. Introduce rights for women. Stop slave Labour in fishing boats. That’s what they are protecting

  30. Thai waitress living in US, UK or EU with permanent residency has more rights than rich foreigners in Thailand with Elite visas. She can own land, get a loan, form a company and do pretty much everything the actual citizens can do.

  31. In 1A, you certainly would be! But even in 55A, they do a great job. I am a bit absent-minded. I have probably shown up a day late for my flight on Cathay 5-6x(they used to fly Vancouver to NYC) and the little Chinese girl would be furiously typing away, get a worrying look and say "Sorry Sir, you were supposed to fly yesterday" Then immediately say no worries, I will put you on this flight, no charge If that was a US airline, I'd have to pay for a whole new flight

  34. This is the second time in a year they have floated these ideas. They really don't know what they're talking about. If they changed land ownership rules and allow foreigners to own land, soon they won't own their own country. It has been one of the few laws that has left them in control. Dropping the rule that a new company must hire at least 4 Thai nationals will also bite them in the ass, as better-run, more efficient enterprises will begin without Thais, so they can maintain their efficient operations and will outgun and outrun their local competitors. They really don't want 1 million well-off foreigners, because it would create a subclass they won't be able to understand or handle. These idiots need to follow the old king's vision and stop looking outside of Thailand to make Thailand profitable and concentrate more on creating a self-sustaining economy, with a look toward green industry and more efficient agriculture. As long as Thailand's leaders believe that only foreign money will save them, they will forever be moving in a direction that places them beneath those that have that money.

  35. Dear God, not another one - or even the same one! These are all just based on the same old absurd fallacies. However attractive the "package", it won't transform Benidorm into Monte Carlo and what attracts people or puts them off will be unchanged as it's just very thin window dressing. "High potential foreigners" aren't attracted by not having to do a 90 day report as someone else would do it for them anyway. The very rich, even with ten or a hundred times as much to spend as the mere rich, don't spend ten or a hundred times as much - at least not when they're here. One person spending $100,000 doesn't put any more into the economy than ten spending $10,000 and they're a lot harder to attract and their money doesn't get spread around as much. The list just goes on, as it always has.

  36. Just keep reminding yourself....they're soldiers. They really don't have any idea about anything, except how to prosecute wars. They certainly have no idea about this stuff, so it's futile to expect that of them.

  38. They're not losing their jobs because of "medical justification" or "standing their ground" but because they've made themselves unable to fly as countries won't let them in unvaccinated. Even if the airline was willing to pay for a PCR test for them before every flight, what's the use of flight or cabin crew who can't fly?

  39. Very well said. I know a couple of foreigners who refuse to take the vaccine, and I am utterly sick of their selfishness and stupidity. I have sat them down (more than once), gone through the issue(s) step by step, answered all (ALL!) their questions and presented what is essentially an air-tight case, And, still they refuse. For no good reason, other than "Wah! Sob! I don't want to! Sob! Cry!". Stupid idiots. I have cut them out of my life, at least until the situation changes. Yes, it is an extreme step to take, and definitely not one that I wanted to take, but as another member correctly said "FFS!". I take solace in, of all things, Thai Immigration. Normally, I am not much of a fan of Thai Immigration (who among us is), but I will wager a very large sum of cash that in order to extend/renew any Non-O Visa (marriage, retirement, work, etc.), non-Thais will have to be vaccinated, likely beginning in the new year. Anyone disagree? Anyone think that Thai Immigration will respect the whiners who demand 'their rights'? I didn't think so...

  40. Smart decision. Refusing to take a vaccine, to benefit society and bring society back, is about as sensible as believing the earth is flat. Imagine making a sacrifice for your country? What a concept. These same people who drape themselves with a false flag of patriotism, would wet their pants if they were ever asked to truly protect their nation or serve in any manner. They use the terms liberty and freedom as if they really understood the concept of either. Alot of Americans have strange notions about the vaccine. And since 97% of new Covid cases are from people who are NOT vaccinated, these notions seem to be misplaced, and likely very unscientific. And all of this is coming from someone who is NOT a VAX guy. But, does there not come a time when you have to set your personal notions aside for the greater good? Like Laura Osnes who was fired from her Broadway show for refusing to take a vaccine, even though the entire cast and crew were vaccinated. She is likely a fan of Tucker Carlson, the disinformation chief of America. He is being spectacularly selfish, not thinking of anyone but herself, and is showing a stunning lack of patriotism in the process. This one is not for you Laura. Ever thought about the possibility that something in this universe is not about Laura, but about the "good of society"? Has that thought ever entered your vapid head for one moment? Even a fleeting nanosecond? A kindergartener has to have some vaccines before being allowed into school, pandemic or not. I know you think you're being brave by doing this based on a "principle," but are you at least as brave as a kindergartener? Perhaps Darwin was right. A friend of mine was invited to a baby shower in the US. They sent me this message. Melanie is invited to a baby shower where both the mommy to be and her husband are determined anti-Vaxxers. Everybody going to the party has been vaccinated. The host is requiring all guests, who have already been vaccinated, to take a Covid test before they come because they have not been vaccinated and won’t do so. Huh? Because of your stubborn sense of entitlement, you want every guest to get tested before coming? America the beautiful. LOL. Maybe some sort of penalties are needed. No flying within the US without a vaccination. No crossing state borders? No going to school or work? All fine by me.
