  1. FFS, my S.O. stumbled on this website today: https://fantasticfoodsearch.com/ffsbangkok/map?place with some interesting looking choices from food carts to upscale and, as she likes to say, not too many places with "white people food". It looks like it's just getting started but has several areas around the country. Since there's only two or three more weeks until the pandemic is over by pronouncement, it might be a good resource going forward.

  2. Instead of calling the vaccine Subunit it should be renamed in honour of Anutin, maybe call it Halfwit instead.

  3. People at the WHO need to go to prison for propping up Sinovac vaccine. It’s effectiveness at testing was rated 51%. The threshold to pass is 50%, a 1% difference and they gave it Emergency Use Authorization. For perspective AZ, JJ, Moderna and Pfizer have ratings north of 70%. Let’s not forget that the WHO: 1. Denied any human transmissibility was impossible for the initial 3 months of the outbreak in China 2. WHO sent an investigation team into China, led by Peter Dazak who also funded Gain of Function research in Wuhan found there “was no link to the lab” how convenient 3. Director of WHO is beholden to China. It was the Chinese voting bloc in the UN who voted for this guy.

  4. Personally speaking I think the human race should be banned from leaving Earth for other planets in the solar system as we've collectively demonstrated how we can trash a planet not only for ourselves but it's other creature inhabitants in a short space of time .. If the Celestial God's have anything to do with it , it won't happen as their lawyers will send out a restraining order in the shape of a meteorite or something like that ..

  5. The economic shutdown, which is crushing millions of lives, is not working. The government sabotage has been so extreme, that we might be looking at 2024 before things here are normal again. A friend of mine just told me they found 20 cases at the seafood market in Ban Hua Thanon on Samui, this morning. All Burmese migrant workers. Living dormitory style, and being moved around the nation. It appears the crushing economic lockdown is having little to no effect. No roadblocks, no restrictions on domestic travel. Super spreaders moving it all around the nation, willy nilly. Where are the authorities. This could be contained, if the desire was there. So, the real question is, why don't they want to contain this? Only Prayuth is to blame for most of this. Not fulfilling his promise to set up the roadblocks, preventing super spreaders from leaving Covid central (Bangkok) and spreading it all over the nation was a mistake of historic proportions, and they knew better. Letting his super corrupt border officials continue to work their super lucrative franshices, by letting in infected Burmese is entirely on him. And then the massive failure of the vaccination drive. A botched effort, run by men who looks like men, smell like men, but seem to be 13 years old. Starting with Anutin. I could go on and on and on. The anger is justified. He has alot of blood on his hands.

  6. We all know why the lower quality Sinovac was chosen over the more effective vaccines, and that is a crime against the Thai people. There are alot of people who need to be locked up here, some of whom cannot be mentioned.

  7. It's very possible she died of the vaccine not the virus. What were her symptoms, what was her treating diagnosis before she died? Where's the forensic post-mortem examination? This news report assumes she died of SARS Cov2, there's no evidence of that.

  8. Curious - Any evidence for that? News links? I do see something about the death rates from Reuters, but it appears to contradict what you wrote - https://www.reuters.com/world/asia-pacific/indonesia-finds-covid-deaths-more-than-three-times-higher-unvaccinated-2021-08-05/ The mortality rate of those who were not vaccinated was 15.5% compared with 4.1% for those who had received two shots of either the Sinovac (SVA.O) or AstraZeneca (AZN.L) vaccine, according to data from state hospitals and almost 68,000 patients in Jakarta from May to July. Separately, data from the town of Banyuwangi on Java island, showed that 93% of COVID patients who died from March to July were not vaccinated, while 6% percent had received a first dose, and 1% had been fully vaccinated. Ok, found something; the Grauniad has an article about it. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2021/jun/28/indonesian-covid-deaths-add-to-questions-over-sinovac-vaccine At least 10 out of 26 Indonesian doctors who have died from Covid-19 this month had been fully vaccinated with Sinovac, prompting health experts to consider whether medics should receive alternative doses to boost immunity. In Kudus, a town in central Java, more than 500 medical workers have tested positive for Covid-19 over the last two weeks, including one doctor who died. All were fully vaccinated. The data, released by the risk mitigation team of the Indonesian Medical Association (IMA), adds to questions about the level of protection that Sinovac provides against new, more infectious variants. Professional groups representing medics are discussing whether an additional dose of AstraZeneca, Pfizer, or Moderna could provide greater protection.

  12. If Thailand allows Siam Bioscience to abrogate its contractual obligations to provide AZ vaccines to other countries, it puts Thailand outside of international law and will open the door to so many kinds of reprisal from those nations who are denied their promised vaccines. The Philippines, Tawain and Malaysia, at least have contractual agreements with BS that aren't being met. Hell, Thailand had to import vaccines made in South Korea to begin its vaccine rollout in June. Failure by the company to provide the agreed-to vaccines will be a black eye on Thailand's international face. The government made two errors that are proving fatal to the Thai population. The first was not being foresighted enough to procure vaccines in time, but additionally to put all of their eggs in the basket of a company that had never produced a vaccine before this. Contemplating the stoppage of vaccine exportation is just another indication of how badly they have handled the entire situation. It underlines the incompetence of those "in charge".

  14. The reason Canada (and other Western countries) don't approve of Sinovac is because China refused to supply those countries with samples for testing. Back when the vaccines started getting pushed out in big numbers, China was using Sinovac and exporting it to countries that had deep ties to China (or owed them a ton of money). However, they wouldn't send any to Japan, Canada, the USA, UK or "Western EU" countries. Places that might actually test their vaccine to determine what was in it and how effective it may be. (China said it was due to the "complexity" of the approval process in those countries. In other words, those countries might actually test the vaccine and might actually compare the test results with the results China claims so China decided to simply not send them any.) Instead they shipped it to Chile, Thailand, Turkey, Pakistan (etc, etc). Places that couldn't (or wouldn't) test the vaccine before starting to dose everyone with it. And that was before that big news conference where top Chinese doctors admitted that their vaccine wasn't as good as they'd hoped. (https://www.msn.com/en-ca/news/world/top-official-admits-chinese-vaccines-have-low-effectiveness/ar-BB1fwlU5) About a month ago I think it was there was a story that the US was finally able to get some Sinovac for testing. Not sure if it came from the Chinese or from someone the Chinese sent the vaccine to. Haven't seen anything in the news about that since then. Not sure how they are going to do any kind of "vaccine passport" either, especially considering how many people have been jabbed with little or no record of it. I can tell (someone) that I was jabbed at BHP on what day/date and with what vaccine, but I have nothing to prove it. (I'm sure BHP has a record of it on their computer though). And we've seen already how people will fake Covid-19 test results and vaccine documentation in order to travel. Sorting out who actually has been vaccinated and who hasn't will cause a lot of headaches in itself. Not to mention if some countries get fussy and decide that, for example, they don't think the (AZ or whatever) made in India is as good as the stuff made in (the UK or wherever) so you'll have to be able to prove what vaccine you got and where it was manufactured and when and so on and so on. Eventually they'll just give up on the whole idea or go back to using what we used to use before. Our yellow vaccination book that recorded all the vaccinations we'd been given. I mean, they only used that system for what - 50-60 years or so ? (After I filled my first yellow book I had to get another but the new one was blue. Not sure if that was a local thing or a new international style. I liked the old yellow one as it was distinctive, but it was a bit larger than a passport so maybe that's why they went to the smaller, blue one.)

  17. Odd then that the Indian variant is wreaking so much more damage? Children have died from covid and your non risk groups (are young healthy doctors ‘non risk group’?) have died from covid - in those cases I guess you’re right they’ve got nothing to worry about now as Covid has killed them!

  18. Not sure about gross incompetence, the facts still show substantially reduced death rates. I do agree with you that a booster shot with another variant vaccine seems to be a good suggestion, now that additional virus mutations are making the rounds.

  19. "new infections" and "cases" "infection numbers" "covid-19 infection rates" "new cases"... None of these characterizations confirm actual illness. How many people are actual "patients" with signs and symptoms of a confirmed diagnosis of SARS CoV2?

  20. I've seen racism in pretty much every country I've ever been in. From Japan to Thailand to Afghanistan to India to Egypt to Germany to Canada and the USA and points in between. What amazes me the most though is how Caucasians seem to be the only race that is ashamed of it's own "colour". They've been brow-beaten into believing that anything "white" is racist and that they should harbour guilt for things that were happening thousands of years before their ancestors even knew where "Africa" (or America) was ! Meanwhile, in literally every other "race" you'd be hard pressed to find any kind of similar attitude. Everyone else is allowed to be proud. It's "woke". It's "diversity". And it's all BS. Promoting any "race" above anyone else is racist - regardless of the colour of that "race". But somehow we've been brainwashed into believing it's OK. Unless you're "white" of course. In which case you were automatically born a right-wing Neo-Nazi white supremacist. At least that's the attitude of a lot of people these days. The same ones who raise a fist in the air and shout "Black Power" and everyone cheers. Because somehow that isn't "racist". Like the cartoon that came out a few years ago. "Red Power Ranger !" (cheers) "Yellow Power Ranger !" (cheers) "Black Power Ranger !" (cheers) "White.......oops.....never mind....skip that one. Cut to commercial." Caucasians are literally the only race that doesn't have the balls to defend itself and they are going to find out the hard way that when they become the "minority" they won't get anywhere near the respect and consideration that the current "minorities" get in countries that are predominately Caucasian. One doesn't have to look very far around the world to see the truth in that. Oops - I forgot. It's "racist" to point out the truth.

  22. Watched the game if Arsenal had there full side out minus Augbeyang mm sorry about the spelling and Lacazette there going to struggle for a team like Brentford with no ex premiere league players in there side they looked like men playing against boy's. The second goal was a shocker for Arsenal's defence, a long throw in bang big centre half up Scored no defenders got close to them. Wasn't a lucky win Brentford were better.

  26. I ponder the billionaire race to space (suborbital space) and the fact that both of these men are acutely aware of climate change. I wonder if they're privy to a level of understanding that the rest of us are ignorant, and they are just crossing things off their bucket lists. Taking a rocket to bust out of the atmosphere is akin to me driving an 18 wheeler down to my mail box to check the mail. The whole thing is more than a little mind boggling. Is it all just ego gratification?

  32. I think that the best guide to deaths would be to compare year to year over a 20 year period. Not looked at that many, but the ones I have researched show that 2020 was nothing out of the ordinary. If anyone could point me to a country that shows differently, I'll take a look. In a so-called pandemic, one might expect to see a significant increase in deaths.

In Thonglor, I can vouch for Khua Kling Pak Sod (their other location is the one that used to have a Bib Gourmand designation), especially for cripsy turmeric fish (Pla Tod Kamin) and their crab curries. Near the river, Somsong Phochana is known for Sukhothai-style noodles. Or Tor Kor market (pronounced more like Aw Taw Kaw) is a must for your out-of-town friends who would be scared of a less-than-pristine fresh market experience. Often you can get free durian tastes, too.

  39. I still keep in touch with my ex here and she recently tried to renew her 10 year multi-entry U.S. tourist visa and was denied. She never overstayed or broke any other rule on her previous visa, had received and traveled to EU in the past as well as many other countries around Asia. I tried to explain to her the situation of how it works in America and she had a hard time believing what I was saying in regards to how racist the policy is....if you need to come by plane you have to follow the rules, break across a land border with the help of some friendly Catholic charities then its all good. Anyone who plays by the rules, waits their turn, pays all the fees, etc etc is a fool when millions just walk right in every day. The whole thing is a farce and at this point I am actually hoping the entire rotten system implodes on itself which seems increasingly more likely at each passing day.
