  4. “Tourists must travel to designated places escorted by operators” - screw that. Deal killer for sure. They are not going to get tourists with that restriction. If they can’t get tourists the business won’t reopen which will keep tourists away. Vicious circle. If those restrictions remain till I return, I’d go to Phuket for the first week and travel to Pattaya after (by then Phuket might reduce the stay from 14 to 7). Use the rules against themselves.

  5. Sure! Drug supression is awesome! But what about COVID supression, which the Thai government seems to do at a snails pace! Drug is taken by people by choice, COVID is not by choice! I say get your priorities stright! Incidentally I hear that the Government will charge for vaccine which they get from America and other countries for FREE! What's up with that!? Who is making money of people's misery!?

  10. Debt restructuring. In Thai language this means: debt don't pay scheme. Anyone who think the Thais are wonderful just look at this example of how wonderful they are. Shun Thai Airways!!!!

  12. They are dreaming. They break dow the year into 4 quarters and just relay every 3 months what they projected in the previous year for future arrivals. Much like they do with the economy; at the beginning of the year it was projected to grow 6-7% now its 1-2% and by the end of August / Sep it will be set contract. They just buying time... What they could do to help is lower the baht for exports, vax the people, open the borders and offer incentives for multinationals to establish corporates here whether by taxes or other incentives.

  13. OH what a hoot that Samui story is! The cheery smiling commentator telling us all that there are people about and that there are folks on the beaches and restaurants - and then all the accompanying footage shows deserted beaches and streets and shops with not a person in sight. Not one! Not a single soul in ANY of the clips! Was he too lazy to walk about and look for them? Or was he just so blisteringly happily (over)confident that his breezy words would be so powerful that nobody would bother looking at the footage that "illustrated" them? What a gaff!

  14. The fact is tourism from long haul destinations is limited at most this year and possibly the next. And with intra Asia regional travel restricted by a lack of mobility and/or confidence it appears these markets will impact the Thai tourism effort as well. The question then is, how much longer can Thailand whether such a blow to the economy? I think Thailand is unique by being in a better position than say Spain for example, as people in Thailand generally don't tend to complain and just accept things and what they are told. The younger generation will not however, and once they start to take a more active role in society things will unravel.

  15. Pattaya move on......Pattaya dream on!!! The 3 day room quarantine more ridiculous that the "Phuket SandTrap". Well at lease the officials are realistic about the numbers being 10,000-20,000 from Aug to Oct. That works out to be 166.666 tourists per day. Still, I do not think it is going to happen in Pattaya. Guessed they will have to dream on and move on to 2022

  17. Unfortunately when the Phuket sandbox comes into operation there wont be many people coming from Australia as we are not allowed to you to leave the country. Also if the bars are not open its not going to be much of an incentive for people to come and enjoy themselves. What are your thoughts please? A fantastic channel by the way I watch it every day and thank you for what you do.

  18. The vast majority of tourists travelling from Europe to Thailand normally take a 2 week holiday which is standard for most countries. The whole proposal is based on people staying for 3 weeks or longer. You book a 2 week holiday and have to isolate for your first 3 days and then you are down to 11 days of your Hol remaining. Also you are only allowed to travel outside the province that you are in after 2 weeks and that rules out visiting Bangkok. Crying out loud why on earth would a tourist book a holiday in Thailand?

  19. Almost all depth of Thai Airways are from foreign banks and are from Germany, Swiss, USA and Japan. So it doesnt mean nothing what a Thai court says because it will need the decisions from the courts from the countries of the banks they took the loans.

  20. Yes a shambolic approach to a reopening and frankly I feel sorry for the airlines who scheduled flights in anticipation of the initial 7 day stay requirement, and an assumption that COE/visa approvals would follow. I think July will be a FAIL and only by divine influence August may see a few tourists actually arrive. Not the millions TAT hopes for.

  23. This Thanet can see that Thailand will miss out if they keep delaying opening, and impose restrictions. Thailand has to take the risk. Egypt is open to all that are vaccinated without petty rules, and their vaccination rate is 2.86%. Thailand's vaccination rate is 6.49%. Thailand should take the risk or prepare for a new dark age of poverty. Not only tourists will shun Thailand but so will investors.

  27. I do not need one I have a rabbit's foot purchased from an old woman who is a member of the Irish travelling community. She blessed the rabbit's foot and assured me I would become rich and live until I am a 100, and members of the Irish travelling community, do not lie. Alas, the rabbit's foot is not none fungible as the amulets are, and is beginning to smell already.

  28. Those people in Thailand dont understand that an european or american or any other person beside chinese dont want to be treated like a prisoner in their holidays. And you can travel in europe as vacinated person without any restrictions.

  29. I know several teachers, and none of them got the vaccine. But that none of the teachers I know have been vaccinated must be a coincidence as nearly 100% of the teachers have been vaccinated.

  34. When they say nearly 100% of them are vaccinated, do they mean all those teachers have actually had BOTH shots? And same question about the Phuket Sandbox - how many of those vaccinated on the island have had BOTH shots?

  41. Besides the fact no one should be using the words “beautiful” and “ beach” in any sentence about Pattaya. The idea you can change it to a family destination is absurd. The Chinese and Indians come to Pattaya to see walking street. Get rid of it and you will cut their numbers down drastically. Reminds me of Las Vegas when they tried the same thing. It ended in an expensive debacle. Few years later the tag line was changed to what happens in Vegas stay in Vegas. The beach’s are better in the south, the shopping and attractions are better in Bangkok and the Thai culture is better - well everywhere else. Even the Thais only visit for a day or two. Pattaya is a money machine. Change it and you risk killing that off.

  42. 1.2 million is just a number someone pulled out of their ass… 200,000 at most. That would be 1,000 per day flying into Phuket, every single day, for the rest of the year. That’s a pipe dream.
