and in todays political machinations department - Poland and 8 other minor NATO countries start pushing for NATO membership for Ukraine.
It is a forgone conclusion that Ukraine will not become a NATO member any decade soon. So why the “fast track” NATO application from Ukraine? Simple - it is a Trojan Horse to start pushing for support for the “Kyiv Security Compact”’ which was authored by Kyiv and an ex NATO leader. So far that “Compact” has gone down like a lead balloon with friend and foe alike. This compact is NATO membership on steroids and more fantasy than reality. As we have come to expect from Ukraine the deal is “all take no give” with “partners” agreeing to finance a multi decade reconstruction and strengthening of Ukraine’s military and economy, presumably in return for Ukraine playing their part in this proxy war. It also neglects to promise that Ukraine gets it’s political & human rights houses in order. Can’t blame Ukraine for trying but only the foolish or the fearful would agree to Ukraine’s request.
You misunderstand or maybe you just need someone or something to pour your daily dose of verbal bile onto. I am saying - Russia’s future actions will largely be determined by Russia’s beliefs - you cannot deny that. Therefore what Russia believes is all that is relevant to the annexation now and unless you can convince them otherwise we best strap in for a long and rough ride.
So the “might is right” argument is OK when Ukraine uses it?
BTW: you totally misunderstood my flippant response to that “kill my dog, stole my woman, kicked me out of my home!” Country & Western song post.
It is a good system.
The taxis need a licence to operate at the airport, the taxis are cheap and safe, you pay at the fixed price taxi desk and not the taxi driver, a very cheap and efficiently operated system.
There is provision for people with less money, you can share a mini bus to your destination with other travellers, also controlled at the taxi desk. It does take longer though as the passengers will be dropped off at various hotels in turn.
Moaners and cheapskates please stay away, go to Pattaya or elsewhere if the low prices are not to your taste.
Another taxi-mafia apologist. The issue here isn't cheapskates - Phuket is the most expensive place in Thailand so by definition anyone going there for vacation is NOT a cheapskate. The issue here is lack of competition and choice. Taxi-mafia types can and do run scams, sometimes drunk or high, and overall scary to ride with. I'd much rather pay an app-based driver the same or more to ride with them than have to deal with taxi-mafia drivers.
Bottom line is the taxi-mafia is paying to have exclusive rights to pick up passengers at the terminal. This has nothing to do with safety and goes directly against the benefit of the tourists the airport is supposed to serve. It also slaps tourists in the face with the fact that they're walking ATMs on the island, right as they arrive.
