  2. I frequent Kamala Beach in Phuket But I've noticed so many more low clasd European tourists the last 2 years My friend owns a pub and attributes that to the weed being legal I smoke weed but would never base my holiday around it When it was illegal I smoked it occasionally when presented but didn't search it out Now that it's legal I buy a little and have a little each day or every other day

  4. Those social issues have nothing to do with the decriminalization of cannabis. In the USA social assistance and access to healthcare is very dependent upon local and state funding. In New York state, upstate New York does not offer the services that wealthier downstate New York does. Many people are sent for care in hub care centers and the greater New York City area is one of them. Many US states offer few medical resources or social assistance to the poor, e.g. Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana. People in need move to regions where they can access such assistance and where people are less harsh to them. California is the largest economy in the USA, it is also the dumping ground for many of the other US States social problems. Easy to point the finger, but the cause of the problem is the refusal of local counties and states to address their own social problems. This has been going on for the past century. Remember the dustbowl of the dirty thirties? That's when hundreds of thousands of destitute midwesterners moved to California.
  5. So a 'you tuber' fakes a Ghost story to boost her profile, bar owner jumps on the bandwagon to boost his bar, and some lawyer tries to boost his profile off the back of all of it. Just goes to show what a sad shallow world the 'internet celebrities' inhabit
  6. "After being confronted and asked to get off, they returned with more than 15 accomplices and launched a fierce assault, which included the use of knives." Standard cowardly Thai mentality only fight when they have a mob behind them!
  7. Couldn't agree more, I have spoken to several former regular visitors to Thailand (quite wealthy couples who spend well in Thailand) who have stated that they were considering going elsewhere in the future due to "the smell of weed everywhere"
  8. Well I guess you could look at the fact there is already a bus service in Phuket that has zero issues (except that it doesn't carry that many people)
  9. I think it's kind of disrespectful when guys refuse to go to their wife's village And I know so many farang that do that.... That's just my personal opinion I really enjoy my wife's village But even if I didn't I would still go for visits if she wanted to
  10. Suphanburi is a town and the province.... The bigger town near my wife's village is Singburi About 20mins drive
  11. May be UNESCO should have also included violence as part of Songkran when recognizing it as a cultural heritage event.
  12. Italian-Thai Development (ITD) Plc is a successful Thai construction company It was founded in 1958 by Chaijudh Karnasuta, a Thai entrepreneur, and Giorgio Berlingieri, an Italian businessman. The partnership began in 1954 when they collaborated on salvaging sunken ships from the Chao Phraya River. The company became a publicly listed company on the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) in 1994. It grew in size and political influence – in 1997 ITD survived the 1997 Asian financial crisis after a successful “business rehabilitation” process – e.g. more money poured in. They are known for constructing major infrastructure projects in Thailand, including the Suvarnabhumi Airport. Today, ITD has interests not just in Thailand but also around Southeast Asia. Premchai Karnasuta, the former president, was indeed involved in a poaching incident at Thungyai Naresuan Wildlife Sanctuary in February 2018. Park rangers apprehended Premchai Karnasuta and his associates while they were camping within the sanctuary. they found them with weapons, the remains of a black panther (including its skin and soup made from its tail), and other protected wildlife carcasses. The incident sparked significant public outrage in Thailand due to the grossness of the crime and Premchai's prominent position. The case “went through” the Thai legal system: Premchai denied the charges. However, after appeals, Thailand's Supreme Court found Premchai, his driver, and his hunting guide guilty in December 2021. They received prison sentences for poaching and possessing wildlife carcasses. Due to “time served” and changes in wildlife protection laws, Premchai was released from prison in December 2022.
  13. How long time before the mafia controls it, just like Bolt has been taken over by mafia in Chonburi and Rayong?
  14. Don't you love the "rule of law" in South East Asia..
  15. Wonder if the police conducted drug tests ? I had a chance to drive around the city at about 10pm to see how this year’s festivities were going. At that time of night, a lot of traffic filled with youths were into some heavy celebrations. Completely soaked and in a frenzy of dong and dance, and I’m sure fueled by stimulants.
  16. It would be interesting to know which side of this corporate partnership is responsible for the mess it finds itself in, or if it's a combination of two incompetents propping each other up. I think BBL is hoping for a bit of a miracle in their new approach to the company so they don't have to take a major hit by having all the money they gave devolve into NPLs.
  17. shouldn't have wasted his time cooking and eating panthers.
  18. This lawyer has a "fanpage" and no doubt he is using this 'citation': "He cited Section 384 of the Criminal Law: spreading fake information causing panic" as a way to drum up views and possibly business. No one is panicking and if he thinks he the government is going to prosecute a woman for claiming to see a ghost, he's missing a lot of social media posts in this country.
  19. Yup, it must be the legalisation of MJ that caused all those issues.......

  25. The “comments”, not so much the article itself, are interesting. From meatheads who thinks Thailand (or any country for that matter) should welcome drug users in the hopes of boosting their economy is ridiculous. The country’s attempt to boost the economy thru legalization of marijuana was a major mistake. Take a look at the US states that legalize MJ. Racked with homelessness, crime, property destruction and depreciation, and mounting local government debt. Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, LA, Philadelphia, New York, just to name a few.
