A mother and a son have been killed after a train collided with a pickup truck in Surat Thani this morning.

FM 91 Bangkok is reporting that the Tha Chana Police in Surat Thani were notified of the incident at a railway in Tha Chana. Police and rescue workers arrived at the scene where there were no barriers for the passing trains. A sprinter train from Bangkok- Surat Thani collided with the pickup truck.

Inside the pickup truck rescuers found two bodies – a 38 year old woman Raweewan Semrod and 10 year old boy Manoonsak Semrod, mother and son. Rescue workers used hydraulic cutters to free their bodies from the mangled pickup truck.

At this stage police believed that they were heading to school. They suspect Ms Raweewan simply didn’t notice the approaching train.
