Two Russian tourists die in Patong Hill crash

Two Russian tourists have died following a crash on Patong Hill last night.

The Patong Police were notified of the incident at 10.30pm on Phra Baramee road at the hair-pin curve on the way up the hill from Kathu.

Emergency responders arrived and found a damaged passenger pickup truck. The driver was 47 year old Thavorn Glasueak.

Nearby they found a motorbike on the road. The two male foreign tourists were taken to Patong Hospital. They were pronounced dead on arrival. They were later identified as 29 year and 31 year old Russian nationals.

At this stage police says the motorbike lost control at the tight curve and collided with the pickup truck.

An alcohol breath test of the pickup truck driver tested zero.

The two Russian tourists have been named as 31 year old Andrei Mironov and 29 year old Vasilii Repnikov.
