Fake goods seized and two arrested at Patong market

Soon we’ll all have to buy the ‘real’ branded items as the fakes are getting more difficult to find. The authorities and vendors continue to play a cat and mouse game in the ‘intellectual property’ crackdown.

Officers yesterday raided another market in Patong and seized more than 4,000 counterfeit goods valued more than a million baht.

A team of officers from the Economic Crime Suppression Division (ECD) joined the raid at the Patong OTOP Shopping Paradise market.

Officers arrested 51 year old man Prasan Kaewprapa. They seized 1,303 items of counterfeit clothes from his shop. Siripong Pattam was arrested with 1,997 items of counterfeit clothes and officers also seized another 853 items of counterfeit clothes from nearby stores.

A total of 4,153 items seized, valued about 1,300,000 baht. The alleged offenders were taken to the Patong Police Station to face legal action.
