Warning over door-to-door cheats

PHUKET TOWN: Charan Sandsarn, owner of Charan Kreunglek & Faifha on Ong Sim Pai Rd, has warned householders to beware of a gang of foreign cheats who, he says, are using the name of his shop to sell electrical goods door-to-door. K. Charan said that the foreigners – thought to be from West Africa – claim to be sales representatives from his shop in order to sell low-quality appliances. He said he had received a number of angry phone calls from people to whom the gang members had sold appliances that later broke down. “I want people to know that I have never employed foreigners, that I have only one shop, on Ong Sim Pai Rd, and that I have never sold goods door-to-door,” he added. Pol Col Abhirak Hongtong, superintendent of Phuket Immigration Police, told the Gazette that the police are on the lookout for the gang of cheats and expect to make arrests soon.
