Tax boss declares amnesty for errors in returns

PHUKET: The Chief of the Phuket Revenue Department has declared an amnesty for anyone who believes he or she may have made errors in filing a tax return. In a the first of a series of monthly columns in the Gazette, explaining Thai tax law and procedures, Annop Buakuen writes, “Staff from the tax office have been checking tax-payer’s returns and have found many errors, which I assume arise because people misunderstand the laws and procedures of the tax department. “If you believe you have made any kind of error in filing a return, please contact the Phuket Revenue Department before the end of September so that we can discuss it and rectify it. “Make an appointment – depending on the complexity of the case, it may take a short or a long time to resolve, but you should get your name on the list by the end of this month. “To make an appointment, call 222911, 221334 or 216623. Alternatively, contact the District Revenue Office in your area. If you are not comfortable with Thai language, please bring an interpreter with you.” The first of Khun Annop’s columns will appear in the September 15 issue of the Gazette.
