Stolen yacht booty dumped on Koh Lone

KOH LONE: Some of the equipment stolen from yachts moored in Ao Chalong late last month has been found dumped on a beach on Koh Lone. Pol Capt Sakol Bunditsak, of Chalong Police Station, today said that fishermen reported to police that they had found some boat equipment in a black plastic bag on a Koh Lone beach. He added that the fishermen handed the bag and its contents to the office of Koh Lone’s Phu Yai Baan (village head) for police to collect. Brian Ritchie, who was nominated by the robbery victims to liaise with police, told the Gazette, “The returned equipment was from the Onyx, La Malou and Serene Dream. I think the fishermen [who found the equipment] saw the people who left the stolen stuff there. They may have told the police who the thieves were.” Capt Sakol said that police were continuing their investigation and had yet to derive a list of suspects for the robberies. The recovered equipment has been returned to its owners.
