Police probe missing five million baht

PATONG: Police are looking for the German manager of Aqua Master (Thailand), a dive supply company in Patong, in connection with the disappearance of five million baht belonging to the company. Police told the Gazette that on December 30, Dirk Krebber, 38, went to the Siam Commercial Bank branch in Patong and withdrew funds needed to meet the company’s year-end payroll. He never came back. Initially, Aqua Master thought something might have happened to Krebber, who had been employed by the company for only two months, so they didn’t report anything to the police. On January 10, however, Ms Sirikate Narin, a lawyer for Aqua Master went to the police and filed a complaint for misappropriation of funds on behalf of the company. Pol Col Kokiat Wongworachart, Superintendent of Kathu Police Station, told the Gazette that Krebber, his Thai wife and five children were not to be seen when police went to the family’s rented house on Soi Nanai. Police have received information that they may now be in Bangkok and Ms Narin has gone with a contingent from the Kathu police station to continue the search. Meanwhile, Aqua Master is offering a 50,000-baht reward for information leading to an arrest.
