Phuket caddie gunned down, killed

PHUKET: A caddie at the Mission Hills golf club in Phuket was killed by single gunshot to the back of the head yesterday morning.

Thalang Police identified the victim as Amornrat Petchtrong, 26.

Local villagers discovered her body before dawn on an access road about 200 meters from the golf course in Pa Khlok.

An eyewitness told police he was riding a motorbike along the road earlier that morning and noticed Ms Amornrat talking with a man.

By the time he passed by again, a crowd had gathered around her body.

Officers led by Thalang Police Inspector Sornpong Chookaew rushed to the scene with Kusoldharm Foundation rescue workers.

A crashed Honda motorbike was lying on the ground beside the corpse.

No bullet casings were found at the scene, but police estimated the caliber of the bullet to be .22 inches.

Ms Amornrat’s body was taken to Thalang Hospital.

Police are now awaiting the results of the post mortem examination in order to confirm the cause of death and gain other information that might be helpful in their investigation.
