Parents the cure for corruption curse: Phuket poll

PHUKET: Parents and guardians play the key role in the effort to instill a much-needed “anti-corruption” mentality in our youth, a majority of Phuket Gazette readers feel.

In the online poll launched two weeks ago, the Gazette asked readers: “In the effort to instill an ‘anti-corruption’ mentality in our youth, which group do you feel plays the most influential role?”

The “parents and guardians” option was the clear winner, with 66.6% of the votes overall.
This was followed by politicians (13.3%), religious leaders (7.5%), teachers (5.8%), business leaders (4.1%) and civil servants (2.7%).

There was some variation by demographic, with expats and tourists more likely (both at 68%) to answer “parents and guardians” than their Thai counterparts (51%).
