Illegal aliens top arrest stats again

PHUKET: The number of illegal immigrants arrested between June 1 and 25 was more than double the number for the same period in May, according to the latest statistics from police. Last month, police arrested 198 illegal aliens, compared with 75 during the same period in May. However, May saw a huge drop in the number of aliens arrested, falling from 257 during the same period in April. The number of arrests for gambling dropped to second-place with 192 from 110 raids. Arrests related to narcotics charges rose significantly to 153, compared with 88 last month. The 47 drug raids during the period led to 56 arrests that involved ya bah, (methamphetamine) and the seizure of 1,483.5 ya bah pills. There were two murders and two attempted murders during the period, with one arrest being made for each type of crime, and one case of manslaughter In addition, 13 assaults were reported, with 11 arrests being made, one rape reported, also leading to an arrest, and nine arrests for prostitution.
