Girls, 13 and 14, busted for ya bah

THALANG: Marine Police officers arrested a 13-year-old girl Tuesday afternoon after she picked up a package containing ya bah (methamphetamine) and heroin from the Thalang post office. Police had received a tip-off alleging that the girl, who was accompanied by a 14-year-old girl friend, was acting as a drug courier for her father, Usman. Police watched her movements for several weeks before making the arrest. The two girls were brought back to the Marine Police station in Thalang, where the parcel was opened. Inside, police told the Gazette, were two family-sized baby powder bottles and two milk powder packets. In the bottles, they said, were three tightly-wrapped bundles containing 590 ya bah pills. In the milk powder packets were about 100 grams of heroin. Officers then went to the girl’s house in the Laem Hin jetty area and arrested her father. All three are now being held at Thalang Police Station while the investigation continues.
