German woman in suicide jump

PHUKET TOWN: A 45-year-old German woman apparently committed suicide by jumping from the third floor of the Bangkok Phuket Hospital on Monday at about 7:30 pm. The woman, a tourist, died from severe head injuries, according to Pol Lt Kanuang Pitakulthon of Phuket Town Police Station. The hospital cannot verify the woman’s name because no passport or other identification papers have been found. She was taking care of her mother who had injured her back while the two were on holiday in Kao Lak, Phang Nga. Lt. Kanuang told the Gazette that nursing staff at the hospital described the woman as “very serious and impatient”. He added that, “The hospital has not released any other information to us, but we suspect suicide and we found the woman’s fingerprints on the edge of the verandah.” Piyarat Kulavanich, Marketing & PR Manager of Bangkok Phuket Hospital, says the woman’s behavior was erratic since her mother’s injury, when she called two ambulances – one from Bangkok Phuket and one from the Phuket International Hospital. When the Bangkok Phuket ambulance arrived at the pair’s hotel in Kao Lak, the woman disappeared and left her mother with hotel staff. K. Piyarat added that, “The woman’s mother has yet to be informed of her daughter’s death.” The woman’s body was taken to the morgue of Wachira Hospital last night.
