Electricity firm opens pay kiosk at Big C

PHUKET TOWN: The Phuket Provincial Electricity Authority (PPEA) today opened a service counter at the Big C supercenter, on the bypass road, where consumers may pay their electricity bills. Sornchai Uparamai, the Manager of the PPEA, told the Gazette that the decision to open the kiosk was made following many complaints from customers about the hot and lengthy wait for service at the PPEA’s Phuket Town office, which has no air conditioning. The kiosk is on the ground floor of the supercenter and will be open from 10 am to 10 pm everyday. Payments for Type 10, Type 11 or Type 20 bills (clearly labeled in English in the top-left corner of the bill) will be accepted at the counter, but only if they are not overdue. Payments may be made in cash only and a 10-baht service charge will be levied to cover the cost of running the kiosk. K. Sornchai added that the PPEA is considering setting up similar services at 7-Eleven stores to make paying electricity bills more convenient. For more information about the new kiosk, call the PPEA at 076-211663 during government office hours.
