Busy schedule for 2nd Thaksin visit
PHUKET: Phuket will be on show during the visit by Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra and more than 300 Thai Rak Thai (TRT) party MPs this weekend. Governor CEO Pongpayome Vasaputi and local government officers met this morning to finalize plans for activities associated with the TRT seminar. Public Health Minister Sudarat Keyuraphan and representatives from 18 southern provinces will meet on Friday morning and at 2 pm attend a “Clean Food Good Taste” market at Baan Kian, Thalang, Dr Yada Palimaphan, TRT Phuket representative, said today. On Saturday, all MPs will meet at Phuket Arcadia Beach Resort to discuss party strategy. During the day, PM Thaksin will inspect Phuket’s problems with traffic and water. He will also talk with local leaders and businessmen about development on the island and discuss preparations for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec) meeting in August, when senior officials from 21 countries will gather in Phuket. The seminar will end on Sunday, giving MPs the choice of relaxing with beach volleyball or golf.
