Body found floating off Koh Bon

KOH BON: The body of an unidentified young man was found floating in the sea off Koh Bon yesterday afternoon. Police believe the victim was a Burmese fisherman.

Pol Lt Col Chana Sutthimas, an Inspector at Chalong Police Station, told the Gazette that the discovery was made about 2 pm by a tourist, who then notified the Phuket Tourist Rescue Center at Chalong Bay.

The body was then recovered by officers from the center, he added

Col Chana said that the victim, about 25 to 30 years old, was dressed in blue trousers and a white shirt. He was not carrying any documents, but had a tattoo on his chest in a script that appeared to be Burmese, Col Chana said.

“The man had multiple stab wounds to his abdomen. We think he died about three days before his body was found,” he added.

“I believe that the victim was a Burmese fisherman killed following an argument with his friends, who then dumped his body in the sea,” Col Chana said.
