“Biggest’ yah bah dealers arrested

PHUKET TOWN: Police from Surat Thani arrested two men selling ya bah (methamphetamine) in the car park in front of Super Cheap on Thepkrasattri Rd, around 4 pm yesterday. A team of five officers from the Karnjanadit District Police Station in Surat Thani, led by Pol Capt Noppadol Kerdkulrat, nabbed Srirung Nankam, 43, and Sittichai Suthapiwat, 33, in an undercover operation. Found in the two men’s possession were 4,050 ya bah pills. “They are among the biggest ya bah dealers in the south, especially in Surat Thani,” said Capt Noppadol, who had tracked the pair to Phuket. Both Srirung and Sittichai – who works as a chauffeur at a hotel in Patong – were registered as living on Yaowarat Rd in Phuket Town. Capt Noppadol and his team arrived in Phuket last Saturday. In coordination with Phuket police, the officers organized an undercover operation to lure Srirung and Sittichai into selling ya bah to plain-clothes policemen. After their arrest, the pair were taken to Phuket Town Police Station where they were charged with trafficking and possession of ya bah. Police said they confessed to the charges. They are being held in Phuket Provincial Prison awaiting trial.
