Appeal for information on two foreigners

PHUKET: The Chief of Phuket Immigration Police has appealed to the public for information on two foreign men who both disappeared a few weeks ago after separate strange incidents at the Kata Beach Resort. Pol Col Apirak Hongtong, Superintendent of the Phuket Immigration office, said police want to talk to a man, thought to be named Morris and believed to be English, who allegedly harassed female tourists and engaged in lewd behavior at the resort about two weeks ago. The man was not a guest at the resort, but often appeared around the pool area, said Col Apirak. After staff took photos of the man, he left the hotel and has not returned since. Officers believe that he may be staying in the Rawai area. In the other case, said Col Apirak, the unnamed foreigner involved apparently became nervous and irritated when front desk staff at the Kata Beach Resort asked for his US passport so that they could make a photocopy. The man told the staff that he had booked a room through a travel agent. But, Col Apirak explained, the staff were unable to find his name in the register, so they asked for his passport to copy so that they could check him in. “The hotel staff told me that he changed suddenly after they asked for the passport,” said Col Apirak. “He started sweating and became angry. After the staff returned his passport, he rushed out of the hotel.” Immigration officials have urged anyone with information on either of the two men to call the office on 076-212108 or 076-221905, or Col Apirak directly on 01-8936767. They have also advised the public not to try to contact either of the men directly, as they may be dangerous.
