• A deputy manager denies that it was ‘their’ cockroach.

• And Terminal 21 has taken it all very seriously and issued a letter promising further action.

Behind all this drama is a single cockroach found in a glass of beer at an outlet in Pattaya’s new Terminal 21 shopping centre.

The cockroach was found swimming in a beer at “Beer Fest”. The single insect has caused a meltdown in local social media and the staff and management running for cover.

The 42 year old deputy manager Nisa Konthong claims that all their glasses are stored open side down and the staff member who poured the beer says she didn’t notice one in the glass. She said that their shop doesn’t have cockroaches and that it must have come from outside Terminal 21.

“It certainly wasn’t there when the server delivered it,” claimed the manager.

Daily News reports that the deputy manager says the waitress had apologised to the customer and said there would be no charge for the beer. But the customer, not letting the matter rest at a mere apology, reportedly said: “It’s too late now”.

And then it all ramped up.

The waitress offered her resignation. The 36 year old manager, who wasn’t on the premises at the time, said none of this would ever have happened if he was there. He called the customer to apologise. He was told that the customer had been given a bill for food, despite no charge for the beer.

Terminal 21 has issued a letter saying they were aware of the drama at the Beer Fest outlet saying they will ‘follow up the matter’.

Meanwhile, the whereabouts or welfare of the cockroach is unclear.
