Chee River claims lives of three children, one girl rescued

Three children drowned last night (Sunday) and a fourth was rescued from the Chee River, Ubon Ratchathani, in the northeast of Thailand.
The four had been playing on the bank of the river when one of them slipped and fell into the water. The other three jumped in to help their friend.
They were then followed by a group of adults who were collecting edible plants from the water’s edge at the time.
Police report that one of the adults was able to save one of the four children, a 6 year old girl named Khemhira Srikerdkhuen, from the river but tragically the current swept away the other three children.
Their bodies were found later in the night by rescuers from the Jee Tum Koh Foundation.
The children were identified and all aged between 8 and 11 years old.
