Police arrested a violent drug addict at a condominium in Bangkok for assaulting and raping his mother over several years. The mother’s employer and the non-profit organisation Saimai Survive helped the victim seek justice.

The employer of the 69 year old reported the incident to Saimai Survive on Tuesday, April 25, and the organisation came to the aid of the victim which ultimately led to the arrest of the drug addict yesterday.

The victim revealed that she had two sons and her husband passed away ten years ago. Her eldest son, who was 45 years old, was married and lived with his family, while her youngest son, a 39 years old drug addict, lived with her at a condo in the Bang Khen district of Bangkok.

She revealed that she retired from the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives and then worked with her employer at a restaurant near her condo. Her drug-addicted son did not work and always demand money from her. If she refused, he would attack her.

The woman said she filed complaints with the police and her son was sent to rehabilitation many times. However, he never got better and always returned to using drugs after rehab.

Every time he was under the influence of drugs, he would beat, strangle, and rape her. She had even considered suicide to escape the situation, but she was concerned about her son’s well-being and did not want him to be homeless. She wanted him to change his ways but did not know how.

On Monday, April 24, she was attacked by her son again. Her face was swollen, but she had to go to work the following day. Her employer helped take care of her and it was then that she revealed the sad story to her employer who then got in touch with Saimai Survive.

According to the police report, the alleged violent rapist admitted everything as reported by his mother under the influence of drugs. He apologized to his mother for his actions.

Officers disclosed that the man violated the Domestic Violence Victim Protection Act and Narcotics Act. The full details of each charge issued against him have not been released.
