It’s still closed but the coral reef restoration project at Maya Bay on Koh Phi Phi Ley needs more volunteer divers.

The Marine National Park Operation Centre 3 (Trang) says that the project has been conducted by the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation under the support of the founder of Ocean Quest Global Anuar Abdullah who has provided advice and necessary training for the restoration process of the fragile coral infrastructure at the closed marine national park.

He says that all methods being applied are natural methods of propagating coral.

The implementation of the project has been running with volunteers from many dive centres in Koh Phi Phi, Singha Estate and staff from Marine National Park Operation Centre 3 and the Had Noppratthara Mu Koh Phi Phi National Park.

Now the call has gone out for more volunteer divers to assist in the restoration project.
