Black water flowing freely onto Kamala beach

“This is taken from the bridge by the Tsunami monument. It’s the main klong that flows through town. It starts out from the Kamala waterfall as crystal clear and by the time it makes it through town to the sea, it looks like this…black from sewage. “

The editor of online blog The Phuket Sun has posted worrying shots from Kamala showing the klongs (canals) and waters draining onto the popular Kamala beach. They appear to be in a disgraceful condition worrying locals who appear unable to get any action to either locate the source or get the waterways cleaned up. Kamala locals say the blackwater ‘stinks’ and claim that it must have a lot of raw sewage in the stream of black goo making its way onto the town’s beaches.

“This is the klong next along next to “….”. (Name removed) The water is black from faeces and stinks to high heaven. I don’t know where this comes from. I think it could be sewage from the local hotels upstream.”

The black waters from the klong running past the branded beach club are flowing directly onto the beach, in plain display to anyone walking around the area and guests of the adjacent properties doing business along the foreshore.

(We don’t believe that the beach club has anything to do with the black water problem at Kamala Beach other than being in a poor location adjacent to the filthy klong flowing onto the beach in front of their establishment. We share their desire that the local OrBorTor take urgent action to rectify the situation.)
