Police wrestler avoids jail but gets a hefty fine

Bangkok’s Dusit Court has fined a Honda City sedan driver 8,500 baht for four offences related to an incident caught on video last week.

The video showed Pol Lance Corporal Thanakit Wiboonphan trying to clamp a car parked illegally in a no standing zone. Not happy about the situation, the driver argued and wrestled with the traffic policeman.

The man was eventually fined 8,500 baht in total.

The policemen headed to his Facebook page to ask people to obey the law. He said he had requested the driver to move his vehicle but says he had still refused.

The driver had parked in a red and white striped no parking zone.
