No hug, no kiss, no goodbye – speeding up school drop-offs
Police in Bangkok are urging parents to cut short their lengthy farewell when they drop their kids off at school to avoid adding to Bangkok’s traffic woes.
Traffic police launched the “No kiss, no hug, no bye” campaign in front of St Gabriel School on Samsen Road this morning at 6.45am as students prepared to return for the second semester.
“The new term will again bring traffic congestion in front of major schools when parents deliver their kids for lessons”, warned assistant police commissioner general Damrongsak Kittipraphat, the man leading the campaign.
He says traffic police are asking schools to implement measures for parents to drop their kids off as speedily as possible.
“For example, kids should be carrying their schoolbags ready to exit the car once it is parked.”
The campaign is targeting major roads where a large number of schools are located, including Samsen Road, Nakhon Ratchasima Road, Ratchawithi Road, Silom Road, Sathorn Road, Charoen Krung Road, Phetchaburi Road, Asoke Montree Road, Sukhumvit Road and Ploenchit Road.
