Moving house brings problem with phones

I have just moved from Kata to Luang Por Chaem Rd next to Wat Chalong. However, after moving, I learned that the TT&T telephone number I had in Kata cannot be transferred to my new house because only TOT serves that area. So now I have to start all over again by being maybe number 200 on TOT’s waiting list. How long will I have to wait for a telephone line? As a foreign businessperson, I need to use the Internet and I frequently have to make overseas calls.

Name and address supplied, Chalong

The Telephone Organization of Thailand (TOT) is well aware of this problem. The fact is, due to growing demand in the area, all the phone numbers have been used. The TOT in Phuket Town has requested an additional 200 to 300 numbers from Thalang. Unfortunately, the TOT can make no promises at this time, but we will try to improve the situation as soon as possible.
