BSP MP Danish Ali files formal complaint over BJP MP’s offensive remarks

BSP MP Danish Ali pushes back against offensive remarks in parliament

BSP Member of Parliament, Danish Ali, has lodged a formal grievance with Lok Sabha Speaker, Om Birla, over BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri’s offensive remarks made within the parliamentary premises. Danish Ali, an elected representative of a minority community, found the abusive language directed towards him deeply distressing, particularly given it occurred within the confines of the new parliament building.

In his letter, Ali revealed the extent of the derogatory language used, which included phrases such as ‘Muslim terrorist’ and ‘terrorist’. He stated: “During his speech, he hurled the most vicious, abusive insults at me, which are now a part of the Lok Sabha’s official record.”

Ali has voiced his intention to file a Notice under rule 222, 226, 227 of the rules of procedure and conduct of business in Lok Sabha and direction of Speaker against Ramesh Bidhuri. This move is seen as a formal pushback against the offensive remarks made by the BJP MP.

Ali further urged the Speaker to refer this issue to the committee of privileges under rule 227 of the rules of procedure and conduct of business in Lok Sabha. He believes that this is the only way to impose discipline on veteran members of the Parliament and prevent further deterioration of the nation’s political atmosphere.

“I implore you to kindly refer this matter to the committee of privileges for examination, investigation and report,” Ali wrote. “This seems to be the only viable solution to instil discipline in an experienced member, thereby safeguarding our country’s atmosphere from further contamination.”

This incident highlights the challenges faced by minority representatives within the political sphere, urging a call to action for maintaining decorum and mutual respect within the parliamentary premises.
